Kraft Light French Dressing
by xxfoxyredxx
When it comes to sauces and dressings they really are something I buy very often indeed. Being on a bit of a health kick at the moment I am trying to eat more salads and things that are healthy for me but lets face it they can be rather boring eating them day in and day out and so I buy dressings to pep them up and make them a little bit ... more interesting and this one being a 'Light' dressing really did appeal to me!
The Packaging:
The clear glass bottle with a silver screw on/off cap/lid to the top of it holds 250ml of the dressing. On the front of the bottle there are two light blue labels. The one near the neck of the bottle tells me clearly that this is a light dressing, there is a salad picture shown on there and then there is an at a glance nutritional chart on there as well. On the label beneath that I'm told that it is Kraft, Light French Dressing 'A vinaigrette with a subtle hint of herbs'. Around the back of the bottle other information listed includes ingredients and storage advice, there is a full nutritional rundown chart shown, the best before date is shown, I'm told that it is suitable for Vegetarians, the size is stated (as I've listed already) and contact details for Kraft are given. Nice and informative bottle this is.
The Dressing:
Well the dressing is runny and a cream in colour and you can see flecks of green herbs in abundance within it. Although runny it does have a slight body to do it but it is rather thin and glossy really. When you open the bottle up you can really smell vinegar which is rather apt considering this is made up in the main from spirit vinegar and it has a strong aroma of oregano going on in there too.
Taste wise this isn't bad at all for a low calorie dressing. It is rather sour not only because of the vinegar but it also has a sourness given off from the lemon thats within it too. You can really taste oregano as well, which of course is listed in the ingredient list given on the bottle but no other herbs in my opinion.
It is flavoursome though but for me its a bit to tart. It does look nice though drizzled over foods and if you like the taste of oregano you should be in your element with this particular dressing!

Kraft Light Thousand Island Dressing
by jade22green
In the warmer weather I eat a lot of salads. I don't much like the taste of lettuce but I find that by having some kind of a salad dressing over it, I enjoy it a lot more. I use all different types of salad dressings from a variety of brands including Kraft. The only criteria being that they have to be low in fat, otherwise I feel as ... though I may as well go and eat a burger instead.
I first tried this salad dressing about 4 or 5 years ago. I was into salads in a big way and wanted to try as many different dressings as I could to see which ones I liked. I liked the sound of this because on the label it said it had a tangy taste to it, I usually like that kind of thing.
Priced at around 80p to £1 for a 250ml bottle, which is a pretty good price compared to others. I actually found it goes on offer through the winter and is sometimes as cheap a 2 for £1 so if you want to stock it's a great way to save and has a long enough date usually to last you about a year, although once opened it should be used within about 4 weeks.
I love the taste of this salad dressing, It has a very strong flavour, which is good because when it poured over a salad it's not too strong at all. It has a tomato flavour to it and is very similar to a seafood sauce.
This is low in fat and calories. It is just 15 calories for a 15ml serving, which is roughly a tablespoon and there is no saturated fat for 15mls of the product. On Weight watchers, which I am a member of, the first 2 spoonfuls are a free food, which is great, as there just aren't enough of those!
This product is great for a lot of dishes. My main use for it is with salad but it's great for prawn cocktails and I love it with a jacket potato.
It makes a very nice change to have a food that is good for you and tastes good at the same time! Read the complete review |

Vegemite
by LIZS383
Vegemite is an Australian spread made by the international food producer Kraft.
Kraft was established in 1903 and owned massive amounts of food companies world wide. Vegemite is porduced by the Australian branch of the company.
It comes in a brown jar with a bright yellow lid, the theme colouring on the label ... is also yellow. The glass seems to be thick and the jar has a really solid heavy simple feel. The jars are varied in size from 227G to 910g (or a 2kg tub!)
It is similar to Marmite in that it is a yeast based spread, (bi prduct from beer processing!) However Vegemite has a less strong and less bitter taste to it. Making it much easier to eat more! It is still quite an acquired taste - savoury salty flavour. It smells quite like an OXO CUBE!
The spread itself is a very rich dark brown and when scooped out of the jar is quite sticky and gloopy! It isn't always the easiest to spread out especially if used on something thin and fragile - like pancakes (very unsuccessful experiment......)
Suitable for vegetarians and also allowed in a Kosher or Halal diet. It is a healthy option for a spread, containing folate, thiamine, riboflavin and niacin as well as only 40kj per 5g serving (and you don't need much of it), although this depends as I love it as comfort food on this white bread with lashings of butter! Anopther version I have been recommended is eating it with cheese.
It is probably still a distinct flavour in terms of likability, but I do think it is easiergoing than Marmite. Strangely though it has never really taken off in the UK - maybe we are all to loyal to Marmite. I have seen it in various import shops though for a range of prices (up to ten quid for a small jar!) - the best advice I can give is get someone to bring it as a present from Australia!
