Disadvantages: none for me!
I know Kellogg's use the tagline "have you forgotten how good they taste" when promoting their breakfast cereals but the same sentiment sprung to my mind today after eating a Snowball from Lee's.
These have been around for ages and I remember them from my childhood, so when I saw a box of 10 Snowballs on offer today at Morrisons at 2 for £1.50 I had a journey back down memory lane. If you haven't seen these before they are a dome shaped, mallow centred chocolate flavoured treat that has a generous helping of desiccated coconut liberally sprinkled all over the outside and are delicious.
The white mallow is light and fluffy and quite sweet and melts in the mouth and is combined with the thin chocolate flavoured coating which provides a protective layer over the mallow. The addition of coconut adds an exotic element that makes these a unique treat to enjoy with a hot cup of tea or coffee that is unlike anything else available to buy.
I was quite pleased as well to see that the manufacturer of these is still Lee's of Scotland and they haven't been taken over by one of the big name confectionary companies like Cadburys or Nestle, it makes a nice change to eat a product that still comes from an independent company and not one of the large conglomerates.
At 73 calories per Snowball they won't be that much of concern to anyone watching their weight or daily limits and being Gluten free and suitable for vegetarians they do seem to be a treat that many people can enjoy. The only thing to point out is that you may find it hard to stop at just one as they are incredibly moreish and one can quite easily lead to another.
I'm really pleased that I spotted these today and eating a couple (see, told you) just now with a cup of coffee reminded me just how nice these actually are and they made a very nice change from having a biscuit of chocolate bar.
I have nothing but praise for these Snowballs from Lee's and from me they receive a well deserved 5/5 Dooyoo stars. If they are available where you are then they make for a cheap, tasty and somewhat healthier alternative from your regular treats and now that I have rediscovered them I will make sure that I buy them again.
Thanks for reading my review.
