The rest is all good. The packaging is simple, and you get what you pay for which is good tasting bolognese sauce. I always find one jar is more than adequate for a person serving but this of cou...more

Premium Review Loyd Grossman Bolognese Sauce: A real saucey Sauce! (479 words)

Lloyd Grossman have a long reputation for providing us with excellent sauces that can be used with a wealth of recipes. If you're deciding to cook up a particular recipe that involves some sort of sauce, then you may want to save yourself some time. Creating a sauce from scratch can add alot of time to your recipes, and sometimes it's just as easy to pick up a jar of Lloyds Grossman's from your local supermarket. The sauce in question for this particular review, is of the Bolognese variety. I have recently ventured into the cooking arena and find the variety of ready made sauces from these guys very useful. This sauce is your standard flavour of Bolognese, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Another day, another pasta sauce (603 words)

Who makes a sauce like this?? Another day, another Loyd Grossman pasta sauce and this time it's the turn of the simple yet very tasty Bolognese. Bolognese is generally a meat based sauce for pasta originating in Bologna, Italy, hence the name. However, as this sauce is suitable for vegetarians it has not meat in it. The sauce is described as a classic sauce packed with carrots, celery and red wine. . It's a really lovely golden red colour and quite thick. The sauce has quite a nice consistency, thick without being too chunky. You can definitely tell that there are a lot of chopped vegetables in this sauce and it is definitely not bland. It is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Loyd Grossman Bolognese Sauce: Fantastic taste, lovely texture - but bitty bits! (278 words)

As pasta with tomato sauce is a staple for us in this house, we stock up whenever good sauces are on offer. Tesco was recently doing Lloyd Grossman sauces for 82p, so we got a couple of jars to try. On opening, the sauce gives off a lovely strong, tomato-y smell, and on pouring into the saucepan has a lovely consistency - a thinish sauce with lots of mashed and chopped up tomato and vegetable bits - so it's not thick like a sauce such as Ragu, which is mostly smooth, but it's thick with texture and bits. You can see the herbs in it too, and as it cooks it begins to give off an even richer smell - you can really start to tell its been made with a bit of red ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bellisimo (385 words)

What a sauce! Its rare that I deviate from my standard Dolmio favourite but for 87p in Tesco this week there really was no reason not to try it, that and I had been influenced by the advert which featured some very satisfied Bologna residents. In fact we've been back since to stock up! At that price you cant make it cheaper yourself. The sauce packs a punch in terms of flavour and unlike other Bolognese sauces that can often be lacking that killer ingredient Lloyd's sauce seems to have it all. To pin point the exact flavours is tricky but it has a richness which I can only achieve at home with half a bottle of red wine. The tomatoes are an intense, deep ...  Read the complete review

I have purchased this bolognese sauce on several occasions - especially when it has been on offer at Tesco's. I like this sauce and really feel it makes a meal like spaghetti bolognese even more tasty. The consistency of the sauce is good,it is not full of big bits of vegetables, mushrooms and so on, like some sauces can be, and I feel that it heats up well and adds that extra kick of falvour to a meal.
