- LOYD GROSSMAN TOMATO AND MASCARPONE WITH VODKA - I'm not usually a lover of these bottled processed sauces as they tend to have a sharp tangy taste and a chemical flavour. You can almost taste the preservatives. But I was intrigued to try out the Lloyd grossman range as the flavours and combinations sounded quite imaginative. I wondered what the man who went 'Through the keyhole' was doing in the kitchen too. So all in all I went for it, to see what my opinion would be on these tasty sounding concoctions. - This particular bottled pasta sauce sounded particularly appealing to me with its ingredients of tomato, mascarpone, and vodka. ... Lloyd Grossman is a brand of ready made pasta sauces easily availed in supermarkets like ASDA and Tesco. I am a great fan of cooking my own food starting with the first and more basic ingredients and building up flavours, that way I know exactly what goes in my food and I can make it healthy. Not too mention that no matter how much their try to sell ready made food is never going to be as healthy and tasty as the food you can make yourself. But there are times when I just do not find the time to make my own food and I see myself forced to have something quick to make. Besides always storing a few baked beans and potatoes cans I also store few of the Lloyd ... Read the complete review

I normally make my own pasta sauces - I can tailor the taste to what I fancy, it's cheaper than buying ready-made jars, and you get the satisfaction that you made it yourself. So imagine my surprise when I was convinced to buy two of Mr. Grossman's ready made pasta sauces in Somerfield's - they were on offer, two for £2.50. Not a bad deal I thought considering they were supposedly in the upper-tier of the pasta sauce world! Sainsbury's sell these right now, not on offer, for £1.66 I tried out his tomato & basil and tomato & chilli varieties. They each come in a 350g jar, which I found was enough to serve four people. For both products the flavour was ... Read the complete review

Up until last night at supper time I was indeed a Loyd Grossman virgin. Lidl`s offered me a helping hand, Loyd`s sauces were on offer at two for £2. More often than not I choose the less elaborate sauces, it is called erring on the side of caution as the Other Half isn't too keen on the unknown. If I have the time and the inclination im not adverse to creating a sauce of my own but if there is something far more interesting to do then I will willingly open a jar. It was a good job that I had my glasses with me when I bought the jar of sauce. The Sweet red pepper sauce looked amazingly good in the jar. A 350g jar that promises to feed two ... I'm a rubbish cook, I can make a sauce for pasta and fill it with herbs and spices and it will taste of nothing! In fact it's a bit of a running joke with my friends and family who have all sampled my tasteless fare! So as far as pasta sauces go I buy them in jars. We tried two flavours of the Lloyd Grossman range when they were on offer, they were at 2 for £3 and I think they normally cost about £1.70 each. So, I chose the chilli one and the smokey bacon one. The chilli one came out first, I tend to use these sauces when I'm in a hurry and haven't had time to struggle through yet another tasteless recipe! We really liked it, it was ...
