I do like pasta but always like a nice sauce with them and get sick of the same old recipes. I was in my local supermarket and decided to have a look and see what there was, I do like a good brand but don't like paying more than £1.50 for a sauce as I feel it gets a bit much. This is when I came across the Lloyd Grossman pasta sauce which I have had before but have not tried many of the flavours. The one that I have chosen to write about today is the Smoky Bacon sauce which I cooked yesterday. Lloyd does quite a range of sauces and other things; he does pasta sauces, Indian sauces and Oriental sauces so quite a lot of different cultures. He also does pour over ... Read the complete review

Loyd Grossman Smoky Bacon Pasta Sauce Description: Manufacturer: Loyd Grossman / Type: Sauce I never usually buy pasta sauces in jars, simply because it feels so lazy! I try to make my own but was in a hurry one day and having my friend round for lunch so I grabbed a jar of this to give it a shot. I hoped that being Loyd Grossman, it would be tasty. The jar is easy to spot as it has a photo of Loyd on it so there is no mistaking it for anything else. The sauce looks quite smooth though has plenty of texture too. It actually tasted pretty good, it was a good mix of tomato and bacon flavours which didn't taste too artificial or ... Read the complete review

I don't mind celebrities advertising products, but in general I'm not a fan of things that use celebrity names, and normally I wouldn't even consider a range of celebrity food. The only reason I bought this Loyd Grossman pasta sauce was because I was looking for something a little different from the standard tomato and herb pasta sauces I usually buy, and this was on special offer at the time. I ordered the sauce as part of an online shop, and I can tell you now, had I picked this up in a store I would not have purchased it. The reason for this, is simply that what I couldn't see on the picture ASDA provided, was that in amongst this dark red pasta sauce are ... Read the complete review

Isn't it weird how certain food tastes so different before its cooked and after, whilst others are scarily similar?? For example, I love cake mixture just before it goes in the oven, more so than the cake itself! But then I like a lot of ready made sauces cold because they tend not to taste much different when warm. So when I dipped my finger in Loyd Grossman's bacon pasta sauce last night, my immediate reaction was one of disappointment - the bacon was overpowering, it was oily and seemed a far cry from the other sauces I have tried so far (and reviewed!). So why did this sauce get a 5 star rating? Because when left to simmer for 30 minutes, the taste matures ... Read the complete review

A while ago there was a promotion on at the supermarket offering Loyd Grossman sauces half price so I stocked up on lots of different kinds. I have to say, the smoky bacon one is by far the tastiest and is also by far my favourite! The actual jar looks great I think. I like the shape of it and I think the labelling looks very fancy and upmarket. It actually reminds me a little of tesco finest labelling, with the black, white and silver. There is also a picture of Loyd himself on the label, which I must admit, I haven't studied in depth(!) but I think it gives it a nice touch, makes it look homemade and like it really is his own recipe. The sauce is ... Read the complete review
