When you think of Loyd Grossman you'll probably think of him presenting Masterchef and Through the Keyhole with that ever so strange Anglo-American accent of his (chances are you've done the impression). You might not know however that he also puts his name to a number of cooking sauces, pastas, and soups. This means he has in no way any input in the product. It just has his ugly mug on the label, and he'll get paid for it to be there. Easy life for some eh? The actual sauces are manufactured by Premier Foods with most of them costing about £3, at the top end of a market also containing Uncle Bens, Homepride, and Dolmio ranges. Its tough competition. A couple of months ago Somerfield were having a sale on various sauces, this Loyd Grossman Tikka Masala sauce was in a buy 2 for £3 deal so we bought one along with a pasta sauce. I'm not great with curry, as hot as I like to get is Tikka Masala so it's often hit and miss with me whether the sauces will be too hot. My partner on the other hand likes a good hot curry so if we buy sauces that are too hot for me he usually loves them. I've tried Loyd Grossman's pasta sauces and found them really tasty so I expected the same from this curry sauce. Currently the jar claims it is a new recipe, it has fresh cream, natural yoghurt, tomatoes and honey ... Read the complete review

I'm a massive fan of Lloyd Grossman sauces. I discovered the pasta ones a few years ago and since then they have been the only ones I will buy. I love the different combinations of flavours and how they taste really light and authentic. I tried his curry sauces fairly recently and am currently working my way through the range. I am not terribly adventurous when it comes to curries, since having children my tastebuds seem to have changed and I no longer enjoy those hot spicy dishes, instead I prefer something that is quite mild but with plenty of flavour. I first tried his korma sauce and absolutely loved it, so next one on the list for me was his Tikka ... Read the complete review

I like a curry and often go for tikka masalas. In the current credit crunch, we are having less take aways and so I have tried quite a few different curry sauces in jars. This offering from Loyd Grossman is full of flavour and delicious. The sauce looks lovely through the glass jar. It is a rich orange and has lots of tiny little pieces in it, which I think is reassuring that there are real ingredients in there somewhere! I added the sauce to chicken, mushrooms, peppers and brocolli, which meant there was quite a lot of food for just two people! The sauce in the jar was enough for all these ingredients but I like to have plenty of vegetables and not too ... Read the complete review

I was a bit speptical when I heard the Loyd "throught the key hole" Grossman was now producing sauces for pasta, curry's etc but my husband suggested we give them a try as we were getting tired of the Dolmio type sauces on offer that we always try. We went for the Loyd Grossman Tikka Masala as I like quite a mild curry sauces but he did have a wide range available, such a Rogan Josh, Bhuna, Thai Chilli, Balti, Korma, Madras etc. The packaging was quite intriguing too, it looked more classy than some of the other sauces on offer such as the Dolmio as mentioned before. I guess it was a little expensive at £1.99 a jar but if you compare this ... Read the complete review
