Loyd Grossman Tomato, Spinach and Ricotta
Pasta sauce
350g
I had to review this product because it is one of the best pasta sauces I have ever tried; even though you can add meat and/or vegetables to it, probably if you try it, you will not need anything else on your pasta. I bought the 350g jar from Sainsbury's for £1.89 which is expensive considering that this is a small jar that makes two servings, but it is good value for money considering how good this sauce tastes.
The sauce comes in a nice looking glass jar with a black and yellow label and a silver cap. The smell of tomato with extra virgin olive oil when you open the jar is amazing, but some things should be taken into consideration before we eat. To begin with, you will notice that the ingredients in the jar are separated and this is natural, so you have to give the jar a shake before you use the sauce.
Even if you are in a hurry don't be tempted to heat this sauce in the microwave for it will make a mess. All you have to do is put the ingredients of the jar in a pan and simmer gently after you add meat or vegetables and simmer for five to ten minutes. The spinach leaves are a nice touch and the creamy ricotta cheese tastes fantastic. However, what made this sauce one of the best pasta sauces I have ever tried was the flavour of the diced tomatoes.
Almost 70% of this sauce is made of diced tomatoes in juice, but these aren't any tomatoes. They are sun-dried tomatoes that are so juicy, the size of the tomato pieces is big and really satisfactory, and I got the feeling that these were marinated in olive oil. Yummy! The sauce tastes so good that I didn't want to add anything else to my pasta.
This product contains milk and it is produced in a factory handling peanuts, nuts, and sesame seeds. This sauce gives 87 calories per 100g which is almost twice as what most tomato sauces would give, since this one contains cheese, but the nutritional information shows that it is generally healthy.
