... on the packaging. Lets tackle the claims one by one . First of all, 'Spreadable'. I have purchased so many spreadable butters, only to find that attempting to spread them tears my bread into rags . Not so with this product, I can happily say that this spread right out of the fridge - exceptionally well on toast, and with only a slight struggle on cold bread. Secondly 'Lighter' . This product makes no claims to be good for you, or low in fat, or in any way healthy . It simply proclaims itself as lighter, and in comp...more

Premium Review Lurpak Lighter Spreadable: Loving Lurpak (428 words)

There are very few areas where I become a food snob - one of them is cheese, and the other is butter and margarine . As a general rule, I cannot abide the cheap stuff, and would much prefer to sacrifice lots of calories on my diet to a yummy, if unhealthy butter than sacrifice a few to a cheap, tasteless 'low fat spread'. I tend to regard most diet products with a degree of scepticism - my opinion is, if they are removing something, then they must be removing part of the tasts too . Despite my reservations, I picked up a tub of Lurpak Spreadable Lighter from my local supermarket, at £2.40 for a 500g tub. The packaging is as you can see above - ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A LIGHTER LURPAK! (549 words)

I normally buy supermarket-own branded butter or spreads as I find them to be a bit better value than more well-known brands and I generally enjoy the taste just as much. When out shopping in our local grocery store recently however I saw that the Lurpak 'Lighter' spreadable butter (slightly salted) was on a special offer and as I knew I was running out of spread at home, I decided to pick up a tub of this to keep us going until we went on our next 'big' shop. The tub of Lurpak lighter cost me 99 pence for a 250g tub. The packaging certainly gives me the impression that the product is of quite a high quality... A sort of 'crest' is evident at the ...  Read the complete review

I picked up a tub of this Lurpak Lighter Spreadable after trying the full fat lurpak butter instead of my usual margarine for once and was impressed with it. As much as I do like the full fat butter, I thought it wasn't very healthy getting all that into my system as I do eat rather a lot of bread, toast etc each day, obviously with the butter! *****APPEARANCE***** Well I had a quite small 250g tub of this, I think it probably comes in other sizes too. The colours on the tub is a mixture of light grey and light blue, maybe suggesting that the butter is light? It does look pretty appealing and I would choose it on the shelf. It has an easy open lid ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review a little disappointed... (421 words)

Over the past few months I've been trying to cut down on my shopping bills & have tried changing to cheaper brands on many products with varying degrees of success. One thing I've not been able to find better is the Lurpak butter ranges. Initially, when trying to find exactly what you're looking for, it can be a bit daunting as Lurpak do blocks & tubs of spreadable, organic, lightly salted, unsalted, light spreadable, unsalted spreadable etc in differing sizes. The spreadable varieties are much more convenient to use because it's softer & usually I find if spreading from the blocks I end up with far too much on my bread which means ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Lurpak Lighter Spreadable: Better Butties (395 words)

Real butter is delicious but it has a few problems. The first one is the fact that it is difficult to spread straight from the fridge leading to torn slices of bread when you make your sandwich and it is also extremely high in calories. Lurpack lighter seeks to solve those problems. It spreads straight from the fridge and also has 25% less calories per portion than lurpack spreadable. It costs around £1.20 for a small 250g tub, double that for a 500g tub. Lurpack spreadable achieves its ability to spread from the fridge by blending the butter with vegetable oil, unlike many spreads which claim to be spreadable this one lives up to the claims ...  Read the complete review
