Advantages: It's good

Disadvantages: None

Maltesers are my favourite candy. I am someone who prefers savoury snacks to sweet, but when it comes to Maltesers, I never seem to get enough: It doesn't matter what size pack I have, once I open it, all the little chocolate balls get munched in one sitting (not a good thing when it's the big bucket).

Maltesers are little balls whose core is made of malted milk - same as Horlicks! - and skimmed milk powder. The little pellets of dough are baked in pressure ovens to make them puffy and honeycombe-like. They are then coated in milk chocolate.

This combination of malt honeycombe and chocolate is perfect, and as much as I like chocolate, I prefer Maltesers to a bar of solid chocolate.

They are made of wheat glucose syrup, barley malt extract, milk solids, partially hydrogenated vegetable fat, sugar, wheat gluten, pectin and salt. The rest (75%, in fact) is milk chocolate (consisting of sugar, milk solids, cocoa butter, cocoa, emulsifier (soy lecithin), and flavourings).

100 grams of Maltesers contain:

Energy (calories): 505 Kcal

Protein: 7.9 g

Carbohydrate: 62.8 g

Total sugars: 53.8 g

Fat: 24.7 g

Saturated fat: 14.5 g

Fibre: 1.1 g

Sodium: 0.09 g

Salt: 0.23 g

Maltesers come in containers of various types and sizes: Plastic bags, plastic buckets, cardboard boxes and cardboard tubes.

My only complaint about Maltesers has to do with the plastic bags, which are so flimsy that more than once have led to tragedy when opening them: the plastic rips all the way down causing the little balls to tumble to the floor! One more reason to get a bucket instead...

I would recomend everybody to try Maltesers at least once (unless you are allergic to any of the ingredients, of course).

A bag of 40 standard 37g bags of Maltesers costs £17.20 from Auravita.com

Summary: Best candy

A very good review, although you don't really need a full list of ingredients in there.
