Advantages: Ideal sized packaging for all occasions, lovely tasting sweet

Disadvantages: Do not do dark chocolate ones, YET! Hint hint Mr Mars

Always a family favourite for as long as I can remember and you always see these around the house during Christmas. A small honeycomb ball totally covered in milk chocolate. One advert says "the sweet you can eat between meals without ruining your appetite", WRONG!!! Problem is once you start eating these, it is very difficult to stop. They are so morish, pop one in your mouth and munch away, you'll soon pop another one in, then another, oops there goes another!! Before you know it, empty bag!!

The malteser tastes sweet from the honeycomb and also taste lovely and chocolatey. Once in the mouth, the chocolate begins to melt immediately, you can then either continue to suck so the honeycomb melts with the chocolate mixing the chocolate flavour with the sweet honeycomb centre, or you can just bite into the crunchy honeycomb and munch away. Either way the taste is just great. You'll soon be popping another one in your mouth.

Recently Mars introduced maltesers covered with white chocolate, if you like white chocolate, these are a must to try, however, for me, these seem a little more sickly than the original milk chocolate ones. I am eagerly waiting for the day when Mars produce the 'dark chocolate' Malteser, I imagine these would be even better than the milk chocolate variety.

Maltesers have been around for as long as I can remember. Small bags used to be the familiar packaging of these, but these days maltesers come in a wide variety of packaging. The usual 37g bag which boasts less than 190 calories and costs approximately 46p from most supermarkets, to the 800g bucket which tends to appear at Christmas. Other malteser offerings are:

57g bag
175g pouch, Perfect for sharing??
Funsize, ideal for the kids lunchbox
boxes ranging from 120g ~ 360g
Maltesers pot
Maltesers tube
Maltesers ball
800g bucket
Advent calendar
And even Ice cream sticks Which are also very nice :)

Some prices range from 46p for the small bag, £1.75 for the pouch, £2.24 funsize and £3.40 for the 360g box.

Now to the bad news, as with everything that tastes nice, there is a price to pay with regards to calories and watching your weight!! Nutritional values for the milk chocolate variety are: (values for a 37g bag)

Energy (calories) 187
Protein (g) 2.9
Carbohydrate (g) 23.2
Total sugars (g) 19.9
Fat (g) 9.1
Saturated fat(g) 5.4
Fibre (g) 0.4
Sodium (g) 0.03
Salt (g) 0.08

Overall one of the best chocolate fixes money can buy. A great tasting sweet for the whole family.

Top tip:

Keep the maltesers refridgeratored, the honeycomb will be even more crunchy and the chocolate won't melt on your hands.

Summary: An old family favourite
