Advantages: only 190 cals in a 37g bag

Disadvantages: very moreish and the white ones are a bit sickly

Mars Maltesers are one of the lightest ways of eating chocolate. The inside is bubbly and biscuity and round and then it is coated with chocoalte making a gorgeous combination.

Maltesers first came out in 1935 and have remained a firm favourite being one of the top sweets. A 37g bag of Maltesers contains only 190 calories. Only trouble is that you want to eat more and more, it is quite hard just to stick to one or two.

The best way of having them is to have a whole box full and sit watching the tv at night cuddled up under a blanket with a mug of hot chocloate and a good movie. There is something Christmassy about the feel of the maltesers in the box when you feel in for the next one.

They also do the maltesers now with white chocolate although I personally find these a bit sickly.

There are lots of recipes on the internet using Maltesers, one on the Malteser site is from jamie Oliver for a lovely cheese cake.

Maltesers sponsor the lunchtime show on itv called Loose Women.

Summary: great sweet for all the family
