Advantages: Tasty, Healthy, Plenty to eat

Disadvantages: Not freezeable

I decided recently to check out the healthy eating options at Marks and Spencer, as I bought other foods from them. I came across their Count on Us Cajun Chicken Fettucine.

This meal comes in a 350 gram serving and is micro-waveable. The cost at the time I bought it was £2.79GBP, (full price), but I bought 2 of them and saved £1.00GBP in total. This I thought at the time was a bargain.

**Packaging**

One of the reasons why I bought Marks and Spencer Count on Us Cajun Chicken Fettucine is that on the front of the outer cardboard package the meal looked tasty. Inside this outer sleeve is a tray covered with a clear plastic film, which enabled me to see the food inside before I bought it. Having seen the food, the picture on the outside did the food justice.

As Marks and Spencer Count on Us Cajun Chicken Fettucine comes in the healthy eating option range, I decided to check out the nutritional values that are shown on the reverse of the outer sleeve. As I suffer from slightly high cholesterol, I found that the fat content of Marks and Spencer Count on Us Cajun Chicken Fettucine was fairly low. The total fat content per packet is 7.4 grams, of which 3.9 grams are saturated.

Other information on the reverse of the outer sleeve includes cooking and storage details, plus all the ingredients. The main ingredients are: cooked pasta (41%), cooked chicken (15%), and tomatoes (13%). I will not list all other ingredients here, but they are easily read on the packaging.

**Cooking Time**

The best way I have found to cook Marks and Spencer Count on Us Cajun Chicken Fettucine is as follows. Remove the outer sleeve and pierce the clear film and place in the microwave oven. The time for cooking varies depending on the power size of your microwave. But on average it takes only four and a half minutes to cook on full power. I then let the meal stand for about one minute before gently stirring it and serving.

I have served this meal with a few healthy, virtually fat-free chips, or a side salad. Both ways I think compliment the meal.

**The Meal Itself**

As with other Marks and Spencer meals I have bought, I find the chicken in Marks and Spencer Count on Us Cajun Chicken Fettucine very tender. The pasta is of excellent quality. The strips of green and white tagliatelle really compliment the cajun chicken. When cooked, the tagliatelle is tender to cut, or roll around your fork, and, in my opinion tastes well with the chicken. The tomatoes and creamy cheese sauce again compliment the chicken. As shown on the packaging the "hotness" of Marks and Spencer Count on Us Cajun Chicken Fettucine is mild.

Therefore, I find this meal is not too spicy, which, in my opinion is very good as it does not spoil the taste. If it was too hot I would not enjoy it.

In general, I think there may be only two drawbacks to Marks and Spencer Count on Us Cajun Chicken Fettucine. The first is that the meal cannot be frozen. So you can only buy them if you want to eat that day or within the time as shown on the front of the outer sleeve. The other drawback is that the meal does not come with any garlic bread, which I find could be an advantage.

All in all, I can recommend Marks and Spencer Count on Us Cajun Chicken Fettucine, especially for people who want to stay healthy or who are thinking of starting a healthy lifestyle.
