How to make ---------------- It is really simple to make. Get it home, put it in the microwave for a couple of minutes (depending on the power wattage you have) and then take out and stir, put it back in, another 2 minutes and then let it stand for a minute. This produces the quickest, nicest meal ever! The...more

Intro ------ I had this stuff last week after a hard day out at the football. We had lost and i returned back to Leeds city train station short of luck and with a massive hunger urge. I popped in to the M and S simply food and was looking at all the sandwiches and things when this caught my eye. I remember having it about 4 years ago when it was on offer back at home. I really enjoyed it then so decided to wait till i got back and get it on! The price ----------- Obviously, it's m and s, so it is never going to be cheap. At £2 for a relatively small tub it certainly is not offering you great value, but it is really good for ...  Read the complete review

If anyone asks me, my favourite meal is salad and mash. I love to put a massive pile of rocket on a plate, accompany it with cucumber, tomato and avocado and put an equally massive pile of mash potato alongside it. I've no idea why this is my favourite meal, it just tastes sooo good and that's the way I like it. Heading home tonight after a 12 hour hard, moany people littered shift at work I realised that a) I was extremely hungry and b) I hadn't had a hot meal since I don't know when. Only problem was that it was near midnight and all the shops were shut except for the BP on the corner that also housed a marks and sparks. You may have seen these revolutionary ...  Read the complete review

I go to M&S for the odd treat as lets face it their prices are dearer than the average supermarket but you do get what you pay for.I have a few items in there that i love and this is definitely one of them.... M&S Ultimate Potato Mash is sold in the chilled/firdge department and is priced at £1.99 for a 450g portion. It comes in a black microwavable tub with a green cradboard sleeve on it.The sleeve has the cooking instructions and also the nutritional information. The mash can be cooked in a microwave or oven....I have never oven cooked it myself but it states on the pack it takes around 30 mins.I always microwave and its very easy..you ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Delicious, creamy mash (323 words)

The humble spud. A staple in many a diet. There are so many ways to cook it and one of my favourites is mashed potato. But I'm very fussy, especially in how I like my mash. I don't like it lumpy. Or unseasoned. Or dry. Just nice and smooth and creamy. You'd think it'd be easy to make it the way I like it. So far I haven't succeeded. I've tried a masher, a potato ricer, adding lots of butter, mixing in warm milk, even cream. But I've never been able to get it quite the way I like it. Whizzing it round in a food processor was a disaster, it just went all gluey. I tried different makes of ready made mash. They were ok, but still not quite ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Marks and Spencer Ultimate Mash: Delicious, creamy (full of fat!) mashed potato (247 words)

To me mashed potato is one of the ultimate comfort foods. It is great in winter - great with sausages and onion gravy but also adds a warm comforting feel to any meal. The only problem is.... I can never seem to get all of the lumps out when i make it myself. My grandad makes pretty good mashed potato and he mashes it first and then whips it up with a fork - but it takes ages and even then if I find a lump I hate it! So although it is indulgent to buy ready made mashed potato - especially from Marks and Spencer when you want some really good comfort food and fancy nice creamy mashed pototo you can not go wrong with Marks and Spencer Ultimate ...  Read the complete review
