To me mashed potato is one of the ultimate comfort foods. It is great in winter - great with sausages and onion gravy but also adds a warm comforting feel to any meal.

The only problem is.... I can never seem to get all of the lumps out when i make it myself. My grandad makes pretty good mashed potato and he mashes it first and then whips it up with a fork - but it takes ages and even then if I find a lump I hate it!

So although it is indulgent to buy ready made mashed potato - especially from Marks and Spencer when you want some really good comfort food and fancy nice creamy mashed pototo you can not go wrong with Marks and Spencer Ultimate Mash.

It is made with potatoes (obviously!), cream, butter and salt and pepper - everything you would put in it yourself really (well I would use milk rather than cream!), but it tastes much much better than any home made mash I've ever had (sorry mum, nan and yes even grandad!).

This mash potato is so nice I have been known to just microwave it and grate a little bit of cheese on it and have it on its own like that for dinner!

It beats Aunt Bessies frozen mash and definately beats smash too! It is the real thing just made with a lot of calories and definatley no lumps!
