Advantages: chocolate, great for treat

Disadvantages: dry sponge, lack of butter cream

I love birthdays, especially my own! I don't like getting older! Who does? But the cards, pressies, treats etc - yes please:-)

Working in an office with 30 others we always bring in a treat for our birthday to share, why do we do this? Others should be bringing in treats for the birthday girl/boy not birthday person supplying.

Anyway, today was yet another birthday, and one treat they bought in was the Marks and Spencer Extremely Chocolatey Mini Bites. During coffee break I grabbed one, well you have to celebrate don't you!

In a plastic re-sealable tub, you find lots (don't know how many exactly) of mini chocolate swiss rolls, coated in milk chocolate, they are short and dumpy but too big for one mouthful.

There's a good covering of chocolate, which surrounds the soft chocolate sponge inside. The sponge which is rolled like a swiss roll contains a chocolate butter cream. Compared to the picture above, and on the lid of the pot, my mini bite didn't contain much butter cream; I therefore found the sponge a bit dry and heavy going. The whole thing does have a great chocolatey taste and I could easily eat another 1 or 2.

To eat a whole pot in one go would be far too much, but I would definitely consider buying them for home, to have as a treat.

I believe M&S do have other mini bite varieties, so I would love to see what else is available and try these.

A few things to be aware of -
- Not suitable for nut allergy sufferers
- Contains - Cows milk, Eggs, Soya, Wheat, Gluten
- Suitable for vegetarians

Jamie, Hugh and Gordon would be happy with these, as they contain 'Free Range Eggs'

Only 90kcal per mini bite

Summary: a super tub of chocolate bites from M&S
