Advantages: Taste and Quality

Disadvantages: Amount of sugar!

If you like the Fry's Chocolate Turkish Delight, I think you will like this Turkish Delight from Marks and Spencer. The bar is split into two 2 inch long pieces of chunky rose flavoured Turkish Delight covered in thich milk chocolate. The reason it reminds me of the Fry's Turkish Delight is the chunkyness of it and the fact the middle is so sweet and chewy. A lot of other chocolate Turkish Delights on the market seem to be more about the chocolate than the filling and often the quality of the Turkish Delight is very poor, being jelly -like or sometimes nearly liquid. That's why, up until now I'd regarded Fry's as the best out there, but once again, Marks and Sparks have come up with another quality own brand to rival the big names.

The cost of the bar is 47p for 55g. This is a more than adequate portion size as it really is sweet and chewy. This price is on a par with Fry's and they are priced fairly for the quality. They can be bought singley or in a pack of 3, but there's not much saving for buying a multipack.

The packaging is attractive, a plastic (but non recyclable) wrapper in chocolate brown and barbie pink. Simple design as with most M&S packaging but it caught my eye, so it did it's job. The packaging also states thats the product is fine for nut allergy sufferers, good to know. Also that the product is made in Turkey, so it's authentic!

All good so far, as you will probably gather, the downside to the product is the amount of sugar you're consuming and the dreaded calorie count. Nutritional information looks like this - Per bar - 220 calories, 4.7g fat and a staggering 40g of sugar (bear in mind the whole bar only weighs 55g!) To summarise, very good for you if you're climbing a mountain, not so good if you're sitting in front of the TV.

In conclusion, this is a great product, tasty and satisfying at a good price for the quality. However, if you want to keep your dentist and bathroom scales happy, purely as a treat!

Summary: A great find, delicious treat
