Advantages: Taste great, moreish

Disadvantages: whole pack may make you sick

Though Marks and Spencers clothing jump in and out of fashion, their food is always at the top of supermarket polls for quality, taste and freshness. They don't use artificial flavourings nor do they use inferior ingredients thus when it comes to confectionary the Percy Pig's gummy sweets, as well as the farmyard-styled off-shoots (not quite as iconic), are tasty, moreish and high quality.

The product is a chewy, gummy pink fondant in the shape of a pig's face, with the little porker's ears being made from a slightly chewier and darker pink gum. Together the flavour is a sort of non-descript fruit and 'bubble-gum' mix. In actual fact the product is made from real fruit juice, though don't be deceived, these aren't going to help you get thin or impress your dentist.

They come in large packs and are retailed for about a pound (depending on marketing movements). Finally, they are highly iconic and Percy Pig has become almost a household name as faras Marks and Spencer's shoppers go at least.

Summary: Tasty iconic product from the classier of supermarkets
