I couldn't believe my eyes in Marks and Spencer the other day. I have to admit that I rarely visit the store these days as I think a lot of it is expensive, and with the ready made meals dominating the shelves I prefer to make meals from scratch, so this store isn't my first port of call anymore. However I went in the other day as one of my Persians has a love of their cat food, and so I pop in sometimes to get her a treat. By the sandwich section I spied a light blue wrapper and noticed the picture of a bar which very closely resembled a Bounty, and underneath the amazing price of 20P-now that is a bargain- so into my basket it went. I'm more than just a bit of a choccy bar fan and always willing to try new products. I first saw the Marks and Spencer Coconut Bar on a promotional rack alongside the sandwich counter. The promotion was to buy a chocolate bar for 20p (normal price 35p) when bought with a sarnie. Great, I picked up my then current favourite, Taw Valley cheddar and celery (superb and only £1.30) and spent a couple of minutes deciding whether to go for the Dairy Milk, Snickers, Twix or Bounty copy (for M&S had one of each all named in a bland descriptive manner such as coconut bar, chocolate and caramel biscuit bar and the like). I make no secret of the fact that I eat a lot of chocolate.....and no apology for it either. I think I am on a one-woman mission to keep confectionary companies afloat during these tough economic times........! But of course the truth is that I eat more chocolate than is good for me, and as a result of that, I am a few lbs heavier than I should be......but on every diet and healthy lifestyle thing you read it says I should be able to control my craving for chocolate by eating just one or two squares of chocolate......
