I love sushi but there aren't any sushi bars where I live. Marks and Spencers Sushi Packs make a good alternative and are great for lunch. Obviously don't expect the sushi to be as good as if you went to a proper sushi bar such as Oko, in the same way pre-packed Tesco sanwiches don't taste as good as a fresh sandwich either! M&S sushi is better than Tesco, in my opinion, and there are a variety to choose from including vegeatarian selections, fish selections and the sushi party selection. If you haven't tried sushi before I suggest starting the veg before moving on to the mixed combo. The smallest packages cost as little as £1 and the ... Read the complete review

Marks & Spencer Sushi..... I decided in January that this year is the year to try new things and this advice spurred me on to buy my first ever trial of Sushi a few months back. I initially saw sushi ready to eat in the sandwich section of Tesco and the smaller boxes only cost £1 so I thought I didn't have much to loose by trying it even if I didn't like it. Anyway I needn't have worried because I loved it and haven't stopped eating it since. Marks & Spencer Sushi pack was the latest one I have tried and to be honest I think it is the best out of the lot. Compared to Tesco Sushi, the M&S looks a lot more professional as it is ... I love sushi and I also love the Marks and Spencer's Food Hall for the odd treat here and there. The Fish Roll, Nigiri and Makri Sushi Selection is one of my favourite occasional treats and I just love it! First a little bit about sushi: Sushi is a traditional Japanese dish which began centuries ago as a method of preserving fish. Cleaned, raw fish and rice were pressed between layers of salt and weighted with a stone. After several weeks, the stone was removed and replaced with a light cover, a few months after that, the fermented fish and rice were considered ready to eat. Today there are many different types of sushi, traditionally ... Read the complete review

Finding great sushi, in a non-Japanese setting, is about as hard as finding great Fish & Chips in a non-British setting. In other words, pre-packaged sushi is only.....mediocre, at best. Does that make me sound like a pretentious sushi snob? Probably. =( I was more than willing to like this party tray of various types of Sushi. My mind was telling me "well, it's better than nothing" and " you don't have time to make your own". So, I grabbed 3 of these platters, and headed out to a friends house for an engagement party. They looked "decent' enough. I was glad they weren't ALL rolls , and had a couple Sashimi's thrown in (Even ... Read the complete review

We were having friends round for a dinner party recently and I knew that all three couples were well travelled and had quite adventurous tastes so as a starter I bought a couple of packs of the Marks and Spencer Sushi Party selection which set me back just under £25 however this gives you plenty of choice and there was more than enough to share amongst six of us especially as we also had some saki to go with it. In all there were 32 pieces of sushi and each one was nicely prepared and very attractive. You get four of each variety and my personal favourite is the cucumber maki and the smoked salmon nigiri which are lovely and tasty. As well as the sushi you ... Read the complete review
