Advantages: nice on toast and in soups and pie fillings versitle and tasty
Disadvantages: some people just don't get it
Marmite I remember it well and still use it on toast and as a soup in hot water. Lovely jubly.
I find the taste slightly salty but malty with a sensation of overcooked beefyness like when the roast beef has been left in the oven just that bit too long and leaves the edges all burnt and charred. Yeah I think thats it.
I love those burnt bits.
So it is therefore understandable that marmite is for me something to treasure, a pleasure on toast as I have said but with bacon on top even better. I have had it in homemade soups and pie fillings as a beefy stock which gives an interesting flavour of its own.
The Yeast extract is concentrated brewers yeast which has been modified a little.
It contains vitamin B and is 100% usable for vegatarians which surprised me a little.
I think it comes in four sizes from small medium large and extra large.
There may be a larger size but I would think it would be for catering if there was one.
generally on sale in most shops with the Jams for some strange reason, and from around £1.98 for the medium sized jar which I usually buy but have seen the larger jars at around £3.99 upwards.
I have heard of people putting marmite in their jacket potatoes but haven't tried this yet. Interesting thought though.
I love it but know there are those that hate it so make your own decisions before judging it.
Summary: good all rounder in a nice jar
