Advantages: Savoury taste, rich in B vitamins, suitable for vegetarians

Disadvantages: A bit salty

Marmite is one of those items that people either love or hate, and I am one of those people who love it. Ever since I was a small child, I have loved the taste of Marmite (and other yeast extracts). The taste and flavour is very strong, and this is not for everyone, and can put some people off. Marmite has a quite salty, very savoury taste, and is rich in B vitamins, that are important for good health. A jar of Marmite will last a long time, as it is concentrated, and you don't need to us a lot.
Marmite can be used in many different ways. The obvious one is on toast and in sandwiches. I am particularly fond of it with crunchy peanut butter and a strong mature cheddar cheese, either on toast or in a sandwich. Marmite can also be used as a vegetarian stock base when mixed with some hot water, and added to soups, stews, and pasta and bolognese sauces, so it is really very versatile, and a useful item to have in the kitchen, if you are partial to the taste.

Summary: Tastes great and has many uses
