Marmite - If you were to read the ingedients list you just would not believe that so many people are huge fans of this, including myself, just take a look nothing there seems very appealing...

yeast extract, salt, vegetable extract, niacin, thiamin, spice extracts, riboflavin, folic acid, celery extract, vitamin B12

Why is it then that these ingredients when mixed together produce such a wonderfully tasty product that is Marmite?

The taste is a kind of a strong and savoury salty affair and its consitency is similar to a gloopy paste and a dark brownish colour.

It is served in a small jar with a screw top lid that sometimes annoying become stuck especially if you refrigerate it. Originally it was served in ceramic pots of a design similar to that that still appears on the front of the jar today.

Marmite is 100% vegetarian, my sister and her kids all eat Bovril instead of marmite, weirdos!, this is made from beef rather. My number one way to eat this is of course the classic way served on toast, you don't need a lot just a slither across the surface.

I can't really put my finger on its appeal but for me it has been a favourite since my childhood until now, long live Marmite!
