Advantages: The jar looks pretty and retro..?

Disadvantages: Everything, yuk

They say with MArmite you either love it or hate it, and I fall into the camp of the latter I'm afraid. I just don't see the appeal of the thick, gloopy bitter paste with a pungent yeasty smell, and find it sacrilege to suggest I ruin my buttered toast by spreading a layer all over it.

Every now I'll get curious and I'll have a taste via a twiglet or something to see if my taste buds have altered - alas it is always the same. In fact I bought some 'savoury' rice cake the other week to spread my usual cream cheese on, only to nearly cry when I bit into them and discovered the 'savoury' was in fact yeast extract.

So sorry Marmite fans, but I really don't see the appeal (then again I can't stand coffee either so maybe I jsut haven't got a bitter palate!)

Summary: Gloopy yeasty tar-like paste - where's the appeal?
