Advantages: A healthy spread

Disadvantages: None for you- LOADS for me

Marmite is a savoury, vegetarian and vegan product made from yeast and is a brown, verging on black paste. It comes in jars graduating from small to large and recently they have introduced squeezy tubes. When staying in a hotel, you will find small portion pots . Those who like it are different, in the volume they like- some like it thinly spread others like a very thick layer- you have to find your own taste point. It is in my opinion an excellent value product.

Marmite is famous as being loved or hated- with me it's just entered a whole new genre- I absolutely love it- but it hates me, as I have recently become yeast intolerant-so this ode is a farewell ode to Marmite.

Would that my allergy was only quite mild,
but alas, it's adieu to the friend I've known since a child.
Tiny Marmite soldiers consumed whilst in my highchair
To a cooking ingredient used with such flair.
I have put you in soup and gravies galore.
Can I bear to have toast now you are no more?
Added a portion to my cheese spread on toast
But just on bread and butter - that's when I'll miss you the most.
