I hate Marmite. (Marmite)

Marmite. Love it or hate it, it is here to stay. So now to review my thoughts on this very hot debate, and yes I do want to know which side you are on. Just to make everyone aware of my loyalties I hate it, I also hate Vegemite and to tell you the truth I don't think I can tell the difference.

I think my hating of Marmite started when I was 11. (I would like to point out now that hate is a very strong word, and usually I would just say strongly dislike, but then all the money Marmite spent on advertisements would be wasted, so on with the hate).

Yes so my story of Marmite started when I was 11 and staying in a jungle hotel in the rain forests of Queensland in Australia. If you have ever been to the jungle you will find that there is nothing to do other than pick at the free food and play Scrabble. So here was me a large 11 year old who was sick of playing Scrabble and wanted something to eat. So I wander over and make myself toast and spread a nice thick layer of Nutella on it, so it was a half bread half chocolate spread open sandwich. Then feeling satisfied with my creation I take a very large bite of this beauty, only to discover to my horror that I had taken a bite of pure Marmite (ok Vegemite), and now I had to try and swallow about 3 teaspoons of Marmite whilst the chef was laughing at me. This was my first meeting with this Marmite, a relationship which was sabotaged later in life by home remedies.

Marmite or Vodka are very good at getting rid of mouth ulcers. At a young age my parents didn't allow me to use Vodka and so Marmite was their weapon of choice. So onto a swollen, painful mouth ulcer they swabbed on a great dollop of Marmite which stung like crazy.

So now I always associate the taste of Marmite with the pain and irritation of a mouth ulcer, and that ladies and gentlemen is why I hate Marmite.

Now bring on the debate.
