Advantages: Great as a cure for baldness

Disadvantages: hmmm....

Right - i'm in an argumentative mood tonight, so let's divide the dooyoo masses with a Marmite review.

I was all set to say that Marmite was merely 'OK' and that I didn't either love it or hate it - but having had a bit on some toast this evening, I couldn't bring myself to do it... the stuff is vile.

You can buy a 125g jar of Marmite for £1.20 from the majority of UK supermarkets - although I would recommend that you spent your well earned £1.25 on a jar of peanut butter instead.

Ingredients
- - - - - - - -
The evil substance contains:
Yeast Extract, Salt, Vegetable Extract, Niacin, Thiamin, Spice Extracts (contains celery), Riboflavin, Folic Acid, and Vitamin B12.

Considering the fact that the above ingredient list contains Niacin, Folic Acid, and Vitamin B12, I would argue that the semi-popular spread would be as effective as a cure for baldness as it is a worthy toast topper.

The Marmite Experience

The nasty brown substance is extremely sticky and gloopy, making for an unusual spreading experience.

The flavour is... well, wrong. No-one really likes this stuff do they!? It tastes very salty and not very pleasant - at least not to me anyway. I would compare Marmite to the result of leaving a pint of Guinness to stand for three years and then mixing the concoction with the dust from four packets of Twiglets. Speaking of Twiglets, how come you can buy Marmite flavoured ones, when they taste like Marmite anyway!?

In fairness, if I dip my finger into a tiny bit of Marmite and then taste the smallest amount, it isn't too bad - but that's the best thing I can say about the obnoxious stuff.

I think I've made it pretty clear that i'm not a fan - although obviously plenty of you are, otherwise the age old by-product of beer wouldn't still be be made. Therefore, let's conduct our own little poll - use the comments box to indicate whether you love or hate the stuff, and i'll publish the results at the end of the week. I'll start things off... JJJJ = Hate.

Summary: Black sticky Paste
