OK, this is an opinion site, so I won't go into the tough challenge of 'what is Marmite', other than to say it's a unique spread that seems to divide opinion around the UK. It's thick and black and tastes very strongly, almost bitter.

I love this stuff! If you like strong flavours then this is great. I think it's a bit limited in use and I have to say I only use it on toast. It's a nice breakfast as it's so powerful it really zings and wakes up your mouth which is something I need in the morning.

You can have it in a sandwich, but I find you have to lay it on quite thick else it gets totally lost in the bread. Despite its strong taste, you'll need a lot in a sandwich.

The only downside is that anything else you have with it, like a cup of tea, will taste odd because you'll be overpowered by the taste of the marmite. Also, don't go thinking you'll be kissing anyone and having them enjoy it.

All in all a strong tasting spread but it's not for everyone.
