Marmite is a dark brown almost black colour, made from yeast it is definatly from savoury things.
I think that Marmites advertising (you either love it or you hate it) is probably spot on, as I love it as well as many other people I know, however anyone who doesn't love it tends to hate it with a passion.
I find that Marmite makes cheese on toast amaizing and if you do bacon and cheese on toast with some Marmite then 'oh my god' that is good.
Also a weird thing my friend told me that is quite good is Marmite and peanut butter on toast it taste pretty damn good.
Marmite used to come in small glass jars which would generally arfter some use become cover in Marmite and very stick to pick up, however they have brought out the new squeezy edition of Marmite which make getting it on to your cheese on toast is 100% easier.
Marmite is great, although not for everyone, so if you haven't tried it, you'll have to decide for yourself.

Summary: Give it a go, you'll either love it or you'll hate it
