***A LITTLE BIT OF ITS HISTORY...*** A German scientist named Liebig discovered that the cells from brewer's yeast could be concentrated and eaten. However, it was in 1902 that the Marmite Company began in Burton-on-Trent. ***ITS FORMATS*** 125gram glass jar, 200gram squeezy bottle, 250gram glass jar, and a 500gram glass jar. ... Marmite is one of those things which divides the country, much like rugby union vs rugby league, or Oasis vs Blur. I sit happily on the "love it" side of the fench, and couldn't be doing without my marmite. It is quite an unattractive sight as far as food is concerned - it's a very sticky, dark brown smooth paste which comes in a jar. It ... Read the complete review

Marmite, marmite, marmite, This really is the strangest stuff. If you eat it while you're naked, It'll stick to your bellybutton fluff. It resembles the Devils' earwax, And comes in little jars. But it looks more like something That came out of your ****! They say it tastes quite beefy, And ... Read the complete review

Either you love it or hate it. I personally hate the taste. It is incredibly salty and bitter and the smell is overpowering aswell. The first time I tried it, I instantly hated it and will never try it again. If you happen to be someone that likes eating 'Twiglets' then you may like Marmite they seem to taste like they Marmite ... Read the complete review

Marmite. You either love it or hate it apparently and I fall into the love it category. Last night I had a bit of a Marmite craving going on so I had some spread thinly on a piece of bread and have to say it was very tasty! The last time I had the Marmite out my niece was visiting and at 3 years old she'd already developed a love for Marmite so ... Read the complete review

Love It, Hate it seems a strange way to advertise your product but with Marmite it works. I'm definetly on the love it side. I've never really thought that much about what Marmite is and where it came from. After looking at the Marmite website I am now much more informed so will try to enlighten you also as briefly as I ... Read the complete review

Marmite is created by utilising a yeast extract, which comes in the form of an unwanted by-product in beer fermentation. The company that make Marmite first came up with their creation in 1902 and has been a popular topic of heated debate ever since! Marmite became popular as an alternative to the beef extract delicacies such as ... Read the complete review

Marmite is famous for being a food substance that you (allegedly) either love or hate (I'm actually neutral). Dark, yeasty and incredibly salty, it makes for an excellent toast topping, hot drink, soup stock and general source of B-vitamins for vegetarians and vegans alike. Add it to cheese on toast for a perfect supper, though don't blame me for ... Read the complete review

Marmite is a dark brown almost black colour, made from yeast it is definatly from savoury things. I think that Marmites advertising (you either love it or you hate it) is probably spot on, as I love it as well as many other people I know, however anyone who doesn't love it tends to hate it with a passion. I find that Marmite makes ... Read the complete review

I remember marmite from my childhood, Having marmite on toast for breakfast while my dad had it with cheese in a ryvita sandwich. I must of got my love from it from my Dad as my mother cannot stand the Black tar like spread. I first gave my children marmite at a young age, both of them where a month younger than one when they first had ... Read the complete review

OK, this is an opinion site, so I won't go into the tough challenge of 'what is Marmite', other than to say it's a unique spread that seems to divide opinion around the UK. It's thick and black and tastes very strongly, almost bitter. I love this stuff! If you like strong flavours then this is great. I think it's a bit limited in use ... Read the complete review

What more can you say about Marmite, than you either love it or hate it. Well this is not strictly true.. History: The base ingredient of marmite is concentrated yeast extract, a paste, to which a variety of ingredients are added. The magic of marmite began in 1902, when Marmite Ltd was established. It has since been ... Read the complete review

Marmite does indeed have a quite a unique taste. People say you either love it or hate it. I think this may in fact be the products advertising line too. And it's mainly true. I love Marmite on toast. I'm not such a fan of it in a sandwich but still like it. Because it's so unique I can understand why many people don't like it. It is a yeast ... Read the complete review

The mystery as to why some people hate Marmite whilst others love it begins in babyhood. If you were handed a finger of buttery Marmite toast as you sat in your highchair, you would grow up to be a Marmite lover. Yes! This is a great infant food and babies love it. The ingredients of niacin, thiamin, riboflavin, folic acid, ... Read the complete review

I have been following, with interest, the Dooyoo survey on Marmite (2 reviews prior to this one) and it seems that, at the moment, I am in a minority - liking this product. Marmite have cleverly used this as a selling point in its advertising - blatantly declaring that you either love or hate it. It is a bold move to advertise a product's ... Read the complete review

Marmite is a spread for sandwiches, toast or crackers and I think it tastes really unique and yummy. It has a very intense strong flavour, which is what may put some people off. The smell too is very intense and somewhat sweet and stingy. It's got a black appearance so looks even more unique and it has a thick, sticky consistency. It ... Read the complete review

Right - i'm in an argumentative mood tonight, so let's divide the dooyoo masses with a Marmite review. I was all set to say that Marmite was merely 'OK' and that I didn't either love it or hate it - but having had a bit on some toast this evening, I couldn't bring myself to do it... the stuff is vile. As they say you either love it or your hate it! but i think i'm one of the few who just don't care either way. When i was young, around 5 or 6 i used to love it. i'd have it on anything; toast, crumpets, sandwiches anything but as i grew older i drifted away from it and eventually stopped eating it. The thing what is probably the worst ... Read the complete review

Marmite - Love it or hate it?? Well i hate it!!
