Advantages: Soft & chewy, full of flavour, extreme chocolate yumminess
Disadvantages: Only the typical downside of high fat/cals as this is chocolate
I still remember the adverts from years back that promoted Mars bars as being the key to your daily diet, because 'A Mars A Day Helps You Work, Rest & Play'. Say that these days and a barrage of unhealthy nutritional facts gets thrown in your face!
A standard single Mars comes in the classical black wrapper with Mars in big red letters and costs around 40p for 62.5g. Mars can also be bought in multipacks (eg. 5 X 52.5g for £1.48 Tesco), snacksize (10 x snacksized bars £1.87 Tesco) and funsize (bitesized Mars 355g £1.98 Tesco). It's such a well-known chocolate snack and is made by the Mars company who have been producing top quality confectionary since 1911.
When you open the wrapper you're presented with a chocolate coated, thick bar of yumminess. You can smell the sweet chocolate and see the rippled smooth chocolate on the top which makes you mouth water. On the inside is soft nougat with a layer of caramel on the top of it which makes it chewy. There's plenty of chocolate coating all around the bar and there's a good amount of caramel to give this a great texture. It's extremely chocolately and quite sweet, so if you're not a huge fan of extreme chocolate, I'd suggest you opt for the 'snacksize' version which is slightly smaller but to me it's still the perfect size for chocolate satisfaction. Each 62.5g bar contains 284 calories and 11.1g fat, but it is quite a large bar. The snacksize, obviously, contain less and they're more suitable for a daytime or tv snack.
I like nibbling around Mars bars, eating the chocolate around the edges first, then the nougat, then the top layer of caramel & chocolate. Mmm. They're also nice dipped in your cuppa tea! (Don't say 'eugh', I know you want to try it now!).
Overall, they're full of flavour with a smooth and chewy texture which are guarenteed to give you your chocolate hit.
Summary: Satisfy your chocolate fix with a Mars
