Advantages: A gorgeous taste sensation!
Disadvantages: Potential weight gain
Well I couldn't resist the urge to write about my all time favourite bar of chocolate.
In the beginning....
I've loved all kinds of chocolate since I can't remember but ever since my pocket money got up to 20p and I could afford to buy a Mars bar rather than smaller sweets that's it I was hooked.
As the years went by....
By the time I went to Uni I was seriously hooked - I was having a minimum of 1 full sized bar a day, often more - and boy when they brought out the King sized version I was in heaven! My Mum even used to send me the multi packs in the post :)
Eventually...
I got a desk job and a car and soon didn't weigh the 9 stone I'd weighed since I was about 15! It soon piled on and I realised that my heady days of Mars gorging were gone - at least as long as I wanted to stay the right side of 11stone that was! Being 5'9" that's bordering on too big for my taste.
So now....
I treat myself occassionally, maybe once a week and wistfully sigh when I think of the days when Mars bars used to get me through hours of hard slog at Uni and I still lost weight....
Having said that I guess I probably appreciate them much more now that I have them so infrequently. I buy one from my local offlicense after the children are in bed, stick it in the fridge for at least 1/2 an hour - can't have a warm Mars bar! Rush around finishing off the house work so that I can sit down and relax "properly" then I think of little else other than maybe a CSI program, until I know that outer chocolate will be all hard and slightly crisp. Then I sit watching my favourite program and slowly nibble round the edge of the chocolate from the front of the bar, I eat an inch or so down the bar of the chocolate outside before eating the nougat bit on the underneath of the bar which is deliciously soft compared to the cool chocolate covering, then when that bit of nougat's gone it's time for a large bite of toffee with the chocolate on top - gorgeously sticky and chewy! Then on to more nibbling of the chocolate from around the edge and so the cycle goes on until there's about 2 inches of bar left with no chocolate other than on top of the toffee, then I eat off the rest of the nougat and am left with a large mouthful of sticky toffee.....sorry gotta go and buy a Mars now! :)
Summary: My life long favourite bar of chocolate
