Advantages: tasty..
Disadvantages: unhealthy and sickly!!
The mars bar is undoubtedly an icon of our time, and there are probably very few people who have never tasted the delights of this chocolately treat.
The packaging has remained largely untouched for years, keeping the trademark shape and size. However, the font has changed a little bit and the colours have changed to only black on the packaging's background. Despite these changes the product is still entirely recognisable and won't be hard to spot on your nearest sweet shelf.
The product itself is actually quite normally sized but SO dense in comparison to other chocolate bars. While a crunchine for instance, will have little air bubbles in to break up the sweetness, the mars bar is a solid lump of sweet goodness. For that reason I find it incredibly difficult to eat a whole one at once and find the mini versions far more pleasurable.
This isn't to say that it doesn't taste good at all, because the caramel, the nougat and the chocolate are a fantastic compilation, but it can be a bit too much.
Although it tastes great, the greatest disadvantage of the mars bar is that it has an extremely high calorie and fat level. For those reasons it must be enjoyed only occasionally, or maybe just not a whole bar at a time.
For something really unusual, why not mush up some mars bar and add them into a cake mix before cooking? It adds something delightful and unique to a lot of recipes.
Enjoy :)
Summary: a tasty treat, not to be enjoyed too often :P
