Advantages: Tasty nougat and chocolate, iconic.

Disadvantages: Over-powering caramel, can become sickly

The Mars bar is a chocolate product manufactured by you guessed it, Mars! Although for those of you in the US the chocolate bar with the Mars format is known as a Milky way, very confusing. It consists of a malty soft layer of nougat, topped with a layer of thick caramel and coated with a decent covering of the standard chocolate used by the Mars company.

This is a pretty hefty chocolate bar, and as such appears to generally be aimed at males, although this doesnt particularly put me off! It's a very traditional chocolate bar, and extremely iconic in England, probably the most recognisable chocolate bar for most people infact.

Onto the taste. The nougat is extremely pleasant with its malty flavouring and soft texture, this is not like the chewy nougat found on another of my favourite chocolate bars, the Double Decker. The caramel layer is rather thick and extremely sweet, i find this aspect to be slightly overpowering personally. The chocolate coating is smooth and milky and just the right thickness.

Overall this is a good chocolate bar with a good variety oif textures and flavours. However, the bar can become rather sickly, maybe due to it's size.

Summary: A good solid chocolate bar, but not without it's faults
