Advantages: Give a massive sugar boost

Disadvantages: Not all that pleasant to finish one of these

One of the most recognisable chocolate bars in England, however perhaps not one of the most eaten. A Mars bar has a sort of marshmallow nougat layer with caramel on top and then this is all encased in milk chocolate.

The odd thing I find about Mars bars is that in order to finish one, I actually have to make an effort. They are so packed with sugar that they are incredibly sweet but also incredibly dense. For this reason I would never buy a Mars bar as a snack or a sort of pick-me-up.

I do still eat Mars bars however but for a specific purpose. They are great to eat before (some will definitely disagree) or after a sporting event to gain a boost in sugar-levels. Though they are incredibly unhealthy, they certainly will not leave you wanting any more sugary substances for a while.

Finally, keep an eye out for deep fried mars bars, particularly in Scotland. I have never had one, but they are supposed to be an experience.

Summary: Not as a snack, but if you need a big sugar boost look no further
