Advantages: Great taste, three delicious layers, gorgeous nougat, chewy caramel & cool chocolate.

Disadvantages: Lots of fat in one bar.

A Mars Bar is packaged in a black wrapper with the red Mars logo and it has perforations at both edges so that it is easy to open. The Mars bar is 58g in size and is available from most supermarkets & newsagents for around 50p but this may be cheaper if you purchase it within a multi-pack and it also comes in several different including snack size & king size.

The Mars bar itself is a layer of soft nougat covered with caramel and then the whole thing is covered with milk chocolate. I love the combination of the soft nougat with the chewy caramel which is soft & rich tasting. A Mars bar is especially delicious if it is straight out of a fridge (as I love most chocolate) and at it's worst when it's all melted and disgusting. I think that the mix of three different treats is fantastic and most people will thoroughly enjoy a Mars bar although I do find one bar to be just slightly to much for me so I normally share it with my other half.

The packaging is simple yet it jumps out to me from the shelf and it's probably every few months that I find myself eating a Mars bar, they are a little messy when eating them but then I do like to take each layer apart with my teeth and eat them separately. I think that the caramel is the best part of the Mars bar and it's a golden colour and lovely & thick but still perfectly chewy. The nougat is very soft and a grey-ish colour, it is exactly like the nougat that used to be in a Milky Way before they amended the recipe a few years ago. The chocolate is not the nicest I have even eaten but it is still very nice, especially when cold.

Each 58g bar contains 263 calories and 10.5g of fat and for a chocolate bar this may not seem to bad but compared to other items on the market of similar size (but perhaps not with so much inside) it is very high fat and this is the only real disappointment for me and probably the reason why I don't eat them very often.

I am rating the Mars bar 4/5 and have knocked off one point because I find that by the end of a whole one I'm feeling almost a little sick and I think that they should perhaps amend the size a little as 58g is quite a lot and more than what I would eat of normal chocolate in one sitting.

Summary: A delicious chocolate bar that will remain on your lips & your hips for an age!
