Advantages: gives you your chocolate fix

Disadvantages: stodgy and sickly

A mars a day helps you work rest and play!!!

That was the motto that went along with the mars bar when I was younger. Well I dont know about that I dont feel any different after eating one, and I never really understood what the message was supposed to be behind it either. If any of you know please enlighten me :)

I never seem to purchase too many mars bars even though it has got caramel which is my all time favourite centre. I think this is because I do find them quite stodgy, and I tend to go for something lighter whilst making my choice in the shops.

My friend bought me one today, so I am munching away on it as I write this review, which probably is not a great idea before bed, but funnily enough I am enjoying it.

Mars bar cost around 45p in shops for a 58g bar. They have certainly increased in price since I last bought one!!

The wrapping is quite simple, it has a black background with the mars logo in red emblazened on the front of the wrapper.

Once inside you are greeted by a block of chocolate with a wavy design on the top. After taking my first bite I can see the thick nougat and the caramel layer spread over, this is incased in the chocolat bar itself. I think the heavy feeling that get with these must come from the nougat as there is quite a lot of it.

As for the taste, well it is quite nice, you get the chocolat flavour most of all with a subtle caramel taste while chewing, I myself cannot taste much of the nougat really, but it leaves you with a pleasant very sweet chocolate taste in your mouth but I find it sickly after a while. I do find these better to eat while soft, as once refridgerated they are too hard to chew, and not enjoyable.

I have now finished the bar and I feel very full, I now remember why I normally go for something different, but I have certainly had my chocolate fix for the week.

The bar contains no artificial colours, flavours and preservatives, but does contain 10.5g of fat and it will set you back 263 calories.

I would eat one of these again, but it is not something I could eat on a regulr basis as I would get a bit sick of them but now and again is fine.

Summary: ok now and then

I agree with jo - far too sickly unless they are the tiny ones in the Celebrations packs, Susan
