First produced in Slough, England in 1932, Mars Bars have come a long way, because they are now one of the most popular chocolate bars in Britain. A typical Mars Bar contains 259 calories, which is equivalent to 13% of the suggested daily calorie intake for an adult. The Mars packaging is unlike that of any other chocolate bar - jet black with scarlet red writing with a gold outline. I happen to think that the distinct design of the packaging is very appealing, but then I'm a sucker for good packaging. Mars bars are now sold all over the world.

To put it simply, a Mars bar can be described as "milk chocolate with soft nougat and caramel centre" and this you will see on the side of Mars bars. A single Mars bar contains a heck of a lot of sugar, which may explain why they are so popular with those involved in physical activity, they provide quick energy.

Mars has cashed in on it's popularity in the gym, or as the ideal emergency ration for hiking and has almost tried to make itself seem somewhat healthy. Everyone knows that "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" and Mars have their own little rhyme - "A Mars a day helps you work rest and play". This is very clever advertising, taking some of the benefical glory from the apple, a product which is actually beneficial to someone if they eat it, unlike a Mars Bar.
