Advantages: Easy to come by
Disadvantages: Costly and very sweet
Mars Delight is one of the latest products in the Mars range. The wrapper states that it is “surprisingly crispy, deliciously smooth”.
The wrapper itself is very similar to the Mars Ice cream one – basically brown and cream with Mars written in red outlined in gold.
The description of the bar is “milk chocolate with a rippled wafer centre surrounded by caramel cream and chocolate flavour cream”.
Inside the wrapper you find you have a narrow bar about five inches long but indented at the middle so that it can be broken in two. This is covered by milk chocolate in a ribbed pattern. When you bite (unless you have read the description) you will find that the wafer comes as a bit of a surprise as the picture on the wrapper gives the impressions that the centre is similar to a chocolate flake.
The taste: The milk chocolate covering is the same as any other Mars but this is where the similarity finishes. Once through the chocolate you come into contact with caramel cream and chocolate flavour cream. It is very hard to decide where one finishes and the other starts as they are both very smooth – and very sweet. They surround the wafer centre – which, as I said, looks like a flake. So; you have a chocolate bar which when bitten has a very smooth creamy layer followed by a crispy wafer centre.
The overall impression is that they are very sweet and I felt that one bar, even though I thought it was somewhat small for the price of 37 pence, was quite enough. I was pleased to have tried it – but I don’t think I shall spend another 37 pence on getting another as it was a little too sweet for my taste.
I would certainly recommend that you try it for yourself as you may have a sweeter tooth than I have.
Thank you for reading.
