MARS DELIGHT TWIN BARS

Well I’ll get the corny bit over with first . I must say these treats are a delight to eat :) Whilst still attempting a healthy diet since Christmas , I am buying the occasional treat . All things in moderation as they say . That gives me plenty of lee-way then .

I bought a multi-pack of Mars Delights for 89p , on special offer . There were seven in the pack . Supposedly five and two free . The outer packet is a creamy colour with the familiar Mars brand name in red . Tearing this open there are seven , roughly eight inch long individual packets inside of similar appearance .

When you open one of these you find there are actually two pieces in each packet .When I first looked at the pack I thought the calories weren’t bad for the size . Opening one I realised that the amount stated was for one half , and these were called Twin Bars .

Now you can just eat one half , but they’re not very big . About four inches . They are however very chocolaty . When you bite into one there is a crispy wafer centre , surrounded by caramel cream and chocolate cream . All this is covered in thick mars chocolate with a ridged effect on the top . The chocolate has a shiny appearance . Delicious .

THE STATISTICS

They taste quite indulgent and are definitely not a low fat option , however the statistics are not too bad:-
A half / 20g piece is 111 kcal and has ,
Fat 6.7g
Saturates 4.3g
Salt 0.05g
Protein 0.9g
Fibre 0.3g
Carbohydrates 11.8g of which ,
Sugars 8.9g
Here there is a website mentioned www.betreatwise.org.uk

The ingredients don’t look too bad . There are no apparent Trans Fatty Acids . Although there are no warnings , the mars delights do contain Lactose , plus traces of Hazelnut and Almond .

They are made by Masterfoods of Austria and there are contact telephone numbers . There is also the website www.masterfoodsconsumercsre.co.uk .

THE RECOMMENDATION

Whether these are not too bad for you or not is for you to decide . Personally I shall consume them occasionally . However as a now and then treat I don’t think that’s the big issue . The important thing is do they taste any good . A big yes to this one then . Mars is not my favourite chocolate but this covering is so rich and creamy .They are so chocolaty and chewy , yet crispy you can share one without feeling you must have the full twin bar . I particularly like them from the fridge as they last longer and I like cold chocolate .

So if you’ve not tried Mars Delights yet why not pick up a pack .I think you can buy a single twin bar if you prefer . But if you buy the 5 plus 2 free bars and you love them you’ll still have some to share .

Thanks for reading
