Advantages: Not as sickly as Mars Bars

Disadvantages: Not exactly a banana

Right, you fancy a quick chocolate fix but seeing as the husband is so decision shy he needs written instructions on what to get you, you need to make your own choice. Galaxy is tempting but too plain for the occasion, your sophistication is questioned when you ask for smarties and a mars bar is too heavy. Hmmm, but there's an idea! Mars delight...

The packaging is a light beige which seems a lot more female friendly then the strong masculine block of the original Mars Bar so that alone makes the Mars Delight a more appealing option to me. It also looks quite posh which again is good. I think that settles it!

Upon opening the packet you are faced with 2 'toblerone-ish' shaped bars covered in mars chocolate. This is described by Mars as, 'a rippled wafter centre surrounded by caramel cream and chocolate flavoured cream covered i milk chocolate'. It does sound nice.

As you bite into your Mars delight the first thing you notice is a satisfying but not to harsh crunch. The wafer is surprisingly light and sets the other textures off lovely. I personally can't distinguish the 2 different creams inside but I can say that the combination of them is lovely and smooth and sweet - though not overly so. The wrapper claims the Mars Delight is 44% chocolate but this surprises me. In the overall experience the chocolate is lovely and creamy but more an after texture as you're munching the whole thing up.

I do enjoy a nice Mars Delight. I find normal Mars Bars too heavy but these are a lot lighter and just right, The wafer component has a lot to do with this. However, if you were to (not for the faint hearted) look at its nutritional information the Mars Delight contains 552 kcal and 33.6g of fat /100g. That's not great but hey, until they invent healthy stuff that tastes like this I'm sold!

Summary: Great for a change when you just want a nice treat
