Advantages: It's different.....

Disadvantages: Tastes just like a Mars Bar only with a tasteless wafer centre, there is nothing light about it

I have only tried a Mars Delight once and that was when they first came out, I couldn't actually remember if I liked them or not so when I saw a pack of four in Poundland recently I decided to treat myself.

Unfortunately I should have tried harder to remember as it turned out that not only do I dislike them, but no-one else seems to be fond of them either so I have no-one to palm them off on!

With this product I think Mars are trying to fool us that they have created a healthier chocolate bar than their sugar packed Mars Bar, only they haven't really - what they have produced is something that to be fair does taste a little lighter but is still so full of sugar that it made my teeth ache after a while.

The Mars Delight comes in two segments and is basically a wafer snack which has been coated in a later of caramel and then covered in chocolate. Despite the fact that the nougat is missing, this still manages to taste just like a Mars Bar only a little more insipid. The wafer is very sugary tasting but besides this there is very little taste to this aspect of the bar which makes me think that it has simply been added to make the texture of this chocolate so completely different to a Mars Bar.

The caramel I think is exactly the same stuff that rots your teeth in a normal Mars Bar, only in a much thinner layer. It's not that kind of luxurious caramel that stretches and covers your chin as you bite either, it's just sort of 'there' and adds most of the flavour to the chocolate bar. The milk chocolate again is the same as that used in a normal Mars Bar; very cheap tasting and terribly sugary - not a good combination in my opinion, although millions of people enjoy their daily Mars so what do I know?

Well, I know I didn't enjoy this bar of chocolate. At all. Even at four bars for £1 I still feel rather cheated as I had been expecting something a little different, perhaps in the vein of a Bueno or Senses bar - I'm not silly enough to have thought that this was going to be a low fat or low sugar bar as the famous Mars logo is completely visible on the front of each bar, but I was expecting something a little nicer than this!

I'm sorry but I don't have the nutritional information to hand, I didn't keep any of the wrappers in my disgust at the chocolate - it's not going to be good news though as even eating just half of this bar will leave you with aching teeth all day!

Summary: I suppose I shouldn't moan considering these were just £1 - but I am!

not really a huge lover of the regular mars bars anyway, so will be staying away from these. I think Galaxy caramel bars are the best for the luxurious stretch over chin effect!!

Im sure they were trying to oust Kinder's wafers here from the top spot and I agree with you about this whole concept.
