Advantages: It's Chocolate, Quite tasty
Disadvantages: A bit sweet and sickly
Masterfoods, who make Mars products, are well-known for producing lots of different chocolate bars that are available, but I found it fairly surprising that a few months back they'd chosen to re-make the Mars bar into a new type of chocolate bar - called Mars Delight. Being a lover of chocolate (aren't most people?!), I was intrigued and had to try one! 'Mars Delight' bars have only been around for a short while, only available this year I think, and were heavily advertised on TV when they first came out in shops. On the wrapper, it has the familiar 'Mars' logo in red letters, next to 'Delight' in cream letters, on a beige background with a swirly white pattern on it; there is also a small picture of what the bar looks like, as well as the product catchphrase - 'surprisingly crisp, deliciously smooth'. Inside a 'Mars Delight', you get two small-ish bars inside a fairly thin pack, and unlike some other bars of chocolate, it needn't be eaten all in one go, which I like. Each bar is only a couple of inches long, and also fairly thin for a chocolate bar, too; there is also a rippled pattern on the top of the bar. When bitten into, you can see the crisp wafer and creamy filling mixed together inside, which is a pale brown colour. I find the creamy filling inside is quite sweet and a bit sickly overall and the taste and texture is quite a bit different to that of a Mars bar. The wafer also adds a nicer, crispy texture to the bar, and the chocolate that it is covered in is fairly sweet but also nice; but overall I prefer Cadbury's chocolate bars to the ones made by Masterfoods, as do quite a few people. The 'Mars Delight' bar contains Milk Chocolate (41%), Wafer covered in Caramel Cream (22%), and Chocolate flavour Cream (26%
). There are also other ingredients listed, such as milk powder, cocoa mass and sugar etc, but it does also contain traces of egg and nuts such as hazelnut and almond, making it unsuitable for anyone allergic to these ingredients. Nutrition Information (per pack): - Energy:- 222Kcal/928Kj Protein:- 1.8g Carbohydrate:- 22.1g Fat:- 14.0g Each pack of 'Mars Delight' is 40g in size, and will cost you around 39p each to buy. They are now widely available from most shops, such as convenience stores, newsagents, supermarkets, etc. Overall I quite liked the 'Mars Delight', and have bought a few before now. For me, they are about as nice as a regular Mars bar, but I'm not overly keen on these either. I felt that the 'Mars Delight' is a bit too sweet for my tastes, and also slightly sickly compared to some other chocolate bars, but it is not too unpleasant though. It does also taste quite similar to a Kinder Bueno, but is overall the least tasty out of the two chocolate bars in my opinion. If you have not tried a 'Mars Delight' bar before, you should especially if you like new or different kinds of chocolate bars, or the chocolate products that are made by Masterfoods. I probably would buy one again in the future, and would recommend them to other people to try too. Thanks for Reading. :-)
