Advantages: Nice chocolate
Disadvantages: poor caramel, poor design
As I'm a huge fan of caramel I've decided to try the Galaxy caramel bar, of course it's supposes to be the Mars answer the the Caramel Dairy Milk by Cadbury's but can it compete or will it fall short like many Mars products do? Of course the idea that Mars have a luxury chocolate in the Galaxy brand is a half truth, compared to the normal chocolate of course it is a luxury, as the normal Mars chocolate is actually rather poor despite it's popularity, the Galaxy on the other hand is soft creamy and lovely tasting but often seems to suffer from problems regarding melting. Bars which melt with caramel inside them can become a repulsive mess of sticky brown goo so it must be hoped that this doesn't suffer from the melting problem.
Coming in a Galaxy style wrapper with a multitude of browns on it with an almost golden colour of caramel spelling the word "caramel" across the centre, this looks the business from the outside. Inside the bar comes in 2 times 3 piece fingers each with large chunks, though I will admit I was some what expecting a single solid bar design, this may actually have been a clever idea to keep the bar from being heavy and weakening the chocolate. After snapping 1 piece off, I noticed something terrible, the caramel runs right through the bar, which means when you snap a piece off, some caramel seeps out of it in a way that could be rather messy.
The Galaxy chocolate seems to hold up well and taste as good as ever with a creamy and richer taste than that of the rest of the Mars range (or the Nestle chocolate range for that matter, which is down right cheap tasting). The caramel seems to soften the taste of the chocolate rather nicely though seems rather tasteless it's self, a bit of a shame really when it could have been so much better and in fact more like the Cadabury's caramel. And why can't I stop it leaking? Thats just annoying me now.

Overall a nice chocolate and poor caramel combination that's worsened by the fact the caramel isn't "full enclosed" so to speak and can seemingly leak out at will in a rather frustrating manner. Mars' effort into the chocolate should get full marks though they have to lose 2 due to the caramel problems and sadly I'd have to advise you to get a Cadbury's alternative instead, they are just all-round better.
Summary: Cadburys win
