Advantages: Bite size

Disadvantages: Possibly a child's sweet

I have for sometime had to deal with chocolate cravings I switched to chocolate biscuits for a while but had to admit it was the chocolate and not the biscuit I wanted. I checked DooYoo for ideas of alternatives Minstrels where 1.

***THE PRODUCT***

They are sold in a brown package with the Galaxy logo (registered) in the top left hand corner (see photo) and are oval/spherical and flattish in shape about the size of a threepenny piece (old money). I bought mine at my local TESCO Express. They were V.A.T rated at 17.5% and cost £0.40 inclusive for a 42g packet. Larger sizes are available.

***CONTENT***

Details on the package were European standardized and for the GB, Irish and another reader (Greeko - Russian alphabet possibly).

Per 100g - protein 5.3g, carbohydrate 71g, fat 22.3g.
Per 42g - protein 2.2g, carbohydrates 29.8g, fat 9.4g.

Milk chocolate (76%), traces of peanut amongst all the natural sounding ingredients it also mentions emulsifiers, lactose, the natural fats come from vegetable, milk and cocoa butter.

I bought the product in May, it is best before December in that year.

***THE TASTE EXPERIENCE***

The sweets are described as smooth and creamy milk chocolate captured in a crispy shell. The 1st I sucked for a second and then crushed mercilessly. My 1st thought to much sugar. No 2 sucking longer very little flavour after 1 minute crushed the sweetness diminished and a taste similar to a milk chocolate bar. After No 3 I decided to stand down and save some for later.

***MY OPINION***

I chose chocolate because I wanted something for desert with my coffee in the evening. my concern is for the fat content of the sweet and frankly I think they lack something of the sophistication of a more mature sweet. As far as I know they melt in the mouth and not in the hand. They go well with TESCO fresh ground coffee.

Summary: Small suckable chocolate sweet
