Advantages: Good value when on offer, smooth and creamy chocolate

Disadvantages: Sickly if too many consumed at one sitting

Galaxy chocolate is lovely and creamy but not my favourite. I will forever be a Cadbury freak as I love that intense chocolate hit. However Galaxy does a very creamy original taste which sometimes just hit's the spot. Minstrels being made of Galaxy chocolate, have that creamy taste but with a twist.

A minstrel is a round sweet that is about the size of a 10p piece, well almost. The outer casing is a crispy, candy shell which cracks up easily and nicely when being eaten. If preferred you can suck the sweet until the shell disappears and the delicious chocolate comes through. That's because the outer casing hides a decent size helping of smooth and creamy Galaxy Chocolate. Either way that you eat your Minstrels they are nice and tasty.

At the moment Minstrels, along with similar offerings from Mars such as Malteesers and Revels are on a special offer. It is one of those buy one get one free, or two for three deals. It all depends where you shop. The bags in question are a decent 225g size which is ideal for sharing or maybe not. Each bag has a 2 free cinema ticket offer on it and this has had a fair bit of advertising recently, so I would think that most readers have seen this. It does involve saving a few of the tear off tops though. The problem is that I just cannot wait to open the bag and before I know it this top is in the bin. Oh well I will just have to settle for the Minstrels.

Minstrels are one of those sweets that 'Melt in your mouth and not in your hand'. The crispy shell helps prevent the eating experience of Minstrels becoming a messy and sticky palaver. I guess if you held them long enough in your hand however that they would melt but come on, they just beg to be eaten, don't they?. The bag has a flat bottom which is designed so that it will stand up without wobbling all over the place. When you rip open the bag and have a sniff there is a very chocolaty smell which remind me of drinking chocolate.

The packaging and the design of the Minstrels mean that this chocolate is convenient and easy to store. A bag can last ages if you are good at limiting yourself and the chocolates will keep well. However once a bag is opened in my home it's fate is sealed. So if you like your chocolate sweet, creamy and in small portions Minstrels could be for you. Buy some now and pick up a good deal on the price also.

Recommended as a quality chocolate I give them a resounding 9/10.

Thanks for reading

!00g of Minstrels have 503 calories, but hey it is chocolate.

Summary: Melts in your mouth, not in your hand!
