Advantages: great taste

Disadvantages: price

Galaxy or Cadbury. Tough choice. I know a lot of people plump for Cadbury simply because they sell more products. Yet there is something decadent about Galaxy chocolate. There is an air of naughtyness as you bit into a piece of Galaxy, that you don't get with a Cadbury chocolate.

The Minstrels are a treat I allow myself a few times a year. I certainly do not allow myself to buy them regularly. I usually buy the family sized bag when I go to the cinema, or if I have been very well behaved during the week, I might push the boat out and buy a regular pack with the shopping.

The Minstrels come in that notorious brown bag, it looks chic, it looks sexy and would get my eye thanks to the sleek packaging. Once you have opened a bag you will be greeted by lots of small brown pebbles. They have a wonderful hardened outer shell which is sugary, but also has a chocolate flavour to it.

I like to slowly suck away the shell, reducing it to nothing, so there is this white thin layer teetering on the brink of collapse. Underneath this shell you will find a small nut of smooth chocolate. It has all the depth and richness of Galaxy chocolate and really melts in the mouth. Again, I like to savour this by letting it dissolve slowly.

Drawbacks:

A massive bag can get sickly, so go steady and take it in sittings. The idea that you're eating lots of small Minstrels will mislead you, but you will actually be consuming a fair bit of chocolate!

The bags vary in price depending on where you buy from, cheapest is Tesco. You can get a large sized back for about two quid if I recall. Avoid buying from petrol stations though, uber expensive!

Summary: mmm

I love these - and yep definitely no crunching allowed with minstrels it ruins it! Sadly I could probably eat almost a whole bag to myself but then I'm a chocaholic :-)
