Advantages: Nice tasting cake, easy to store, convenient
Disadvantages: Nothing really to write home about
Mars Mini Rolls are sold in a mullet pack which holds 6 of the delicious little treats. I bought two of these packs for £2.00 at Netto recently. Buying one pack would have worked out cheaper and I knew a man who would soon consume these cake bars.
When you open the outer packaging you will see that each Mars Mini Roll is individually wrapped. This makes them perfect for adding to snack boxes and packed lunches as well as making them easy to store. I have chosen to store mine in the bottom of my fridge as, like most chocolaty foods, they taste better chilled.
So do they taste like Mars Bars, I hear you ask, as one?
Hubby would say no whilst I would say sort of. Each Mars Mini Roll resembles an ordinary looking, small chocolate covered Swiss roll. You know, something like Cadbury's Mini Rolls. The chocolate is paler than Cadbury's but that is in keeping with Mars Chocolate. The sponge cake is a chocolate sponge. The cream filling is a pale caramel flavoured cream which does have a slight mars bar taste to it. The pack states a soft caramel filling so I guess this is the part that tastes like a Mars Bar.
The nice thing about these mini rolls is that they are covered in actual chocolate and not a chocolate, flavoured coating. Each bar has 130 calories and a list of ingredients that you would expect for a cake. After all you are not eating these because they are good for your health, are you?. These mini rolls are quite sweet but I found them not to be too sweet for my taste. However, I would not be able to run amok and eat lots of these, which is a good thing.
Overall an OK addition to the cake selection at the supermarket but nothing awe inspiring.
