Okay But Not For Me (Mars White Maltesers)

Advantages: Crunchy, Good Texture

Until recently, I had only had the regular milk chocolate Mars Maltesers, but I spotted these white ones in the garage when I was paying for my petrol and decided to give them a go. They cost me 64p in the petrol station, but things always cost more in there so you can expect to get them cheaper in other shops - especially supermarkets. I did check the Tesco website, but they don't appear to sell a multipack of these which is a shame for fans of them who want to save some pennies on them.

White Maltesers are like original maltesers, only with a white chocolate coating instead of a milk chocolate one. They're little crunchy balls of honeycomb, with a thin layer of milk chocolate around the outside.

When I first tried one of these, I wasn't too sure about them. I was expecting a nice creamy white chocolate to go with my crunchy Malteser balls, but instead I got a really thin, washy chocolate flavour that I could hardly taste.

The honeycomb centres had a nice, firm crunch to them though, as I expected from a Malteser! I liked the texture of these, and the way I could either crunch hard on them, or leave them to dissolve in my mouth. I also found that with perserverance, and by putting a few sweets in my mouth at a time, I could build up to a decent enough chocolate flavour.

I don't recommend these myself, as I wouldn't go out and buy them again. But maybe if you're looking for a sweet that's quite light and low in the chocolate stakes, you might want to give these a go. I prefer something with a bit more chocolate!
