Advantages: White chocolate goes well with the maltesers taste.
Disadvantages: Crunchie.
When confectionary brands get big and popular they look for ways to diversify from their 'old favorites' as a way to make a bit of extra cash, and keep the brand current. White maltesters is exactly this, it is a variation from Mars of the very popular normal coloured maltesers (brown chocolate) the version that has sold very well all over the country and even worldwide.
Mars make a wide variety of confectionary products and are a very successful brand within the UK. Although I like a lot off their products, they are not my favourite brand, as this is Cadburys. That does not mean I do not enjoy Mars, its just they don't shine high above the rest for me.
Maltesers, and white maltesers come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. The most common being what I call the grab bag, about 35g and costing about 50p. The normal maltesers packaging is red with pictures of maltesers on as if they are floating and maltesers written in big chunky writing. The difference with the white maltesers is that the packaging has 'snowy' edges and white maltesers on the front instead. Its easy to tear off an edge and get into the packet without destroying them. The packaging is not resealable, but there are not enough maltesers in them to make it worth while! I am not sure if the packaging is recyclable or not, which is an important factor in my opinion.
Maltesters, as the name might suggest contain some malty goodness. They are balls, just larger than marble size brown in appearance as they are coated in chocolate. The big difference with this product, as the name might suggest is that they are white in appearance as they are coated with white chocolate. The centre is crunchie and bubbly. A little less sugary than honeycombe, but it has the same consistency. The material is very much melt in the mouth and you can easily suck maltesers until they disappear into nothing, which obviously makes the packet last longer!
The texture overall is crunchie with a slighter softer outer shell. I personally do not like the texture as I feel as if it is scratching my teeth! That's just my personal taste though and I know tons of people that love maltesers. The white chocolate taste goes with the centre very well, so they new taste is definitely a bonus. If you like the existing Maltesers then you should definitely try these.
Summary: If you like maltesers try these.
