I have noticed that this consistency sometimes changes between packets, but I've never found them to be inedible or not as tasty. The chocolate chips are smooth and add a bit of a creamy texture to the cookie when you're eating it, and there's enough chips in there so you don't feel cheated out of chocolate! Maryland Cookies look simply like any other cookie, pretty average sized but absolutely loaded with chocolate chips! There are quite a few brands of cookies and most chocolate chips in them tend to be flat, not real chocolate ('flavoured') and just sugary sweet. The internet tells me that over 12 billion of these yummy things are sold each year worldwide, which apparently is enough to stretch from the pacific, across America and to the Atlantic. Wow, you learn something new everyday! Because they're so popular they're readily available so you should find them in most supermarkets ...
